Registration for the 2012 EPAC Kids Theater Workshop will begin on December 1, 2011.
Part of the mission of the Endicott Performing Arts Center is to offer area youth education and experience in the performing arts. The EPAC “Kids’ Theater Workshop” offers a ten-week theater program with classes beginning on Saturday, January 7, 2012, and culminating with performances of the hit Broadway musical, BEAUTY AND THE BEAST March 8-18, 2012. Classes are open to children from ages 6 through 18. This will be EPACs 13th consecutive year offering the EPAC Kids’ Theater Workshop.
The winner of multiple awards, BEAUTY AND THE BEAST delighted audiences for more than a decade on Broadway and as an animated Disney production. BEAUTY AND THE BEAST tells the story of Prince Adam was cursed to live in a beast’s form by an Enchantress who saw no love in his arrogant heart. The one way he could break the spell was to learn to love another and earn her love in return before the last petal from his enchanted rose fell on his twenty-first birthday. But who could ever learn to love a beast?
Ten years later, Maurice, an inventor from a nearby village, becomes lost in the woods and seeks shelter in the Beast's castle, the Beast imprisons him for trespassing. His daughter Belle, a bookworm who dreams of life outside her provincial village, finds him trapped in the castle and offers her place in his stead. The Beast accepts with a promise she'll remain in the castle forever. In the beginning Belle views him as nothing more than a monster, he views her as difficult and stubborn. But the two soon taste the bitter-sweetness of finding out that you can change and learning at the same time that you were wrong.
The cost for the 10 week EPAC Kids’ Theater Workshop is $325. $175 of that is due at registration time. The remainder of $150 is due February 1st. A family discount is available for siblings.
